Petter in Estering

After the controversy and disappointment of Latvia just two weeks ago Petter Solberg, the Teng Tools sponsored reigning FIA World Rally Cross Champion, will be aiming for nothing less than maximum points with wins in every race at Estering in Germany this weekend.
As you would expect from a three times world champion Petter remains focussed and as determined as ever –
“I like this track,” says Solberg. “It’s nice to go back to a place with some good memories. The last few weeks have been pretty tough for PSRX, but driving through the gates into Estering, we will remember why we are here and what this team can do.
We have two races now, here and Argentina and the plan is simple: we focus everything on one race at a time with a very straightforward strategy – to win.
With TV coverage around the world the Teng Tools logo will be clearly seen by millions of people both on the car and on track side, Petter has a huge following around the world and there will be no lack of support for Petter and hopefully plenty for his many fans to celebrate.
The Petter Solberg car and his race suit are regularly shown on TV with the Teng Tools logo clearly visible, the trackside banners and winners podium branding all add to the message that Teng Tools really does work with winners. Advertising that will help build brand awareness for Teng Tools in your market.
At the moment Petter is lying in third position in the championship – not a position he is used to. Mathematically he can still win the title – while there is still that chance you can rely on him to race at the top of his ability and that will make for some spectacular racing – well worth watching if you get the chance.
Look out for Petter and the PSRX Team on TV'3 CRC Motorsport Show. Generally coverage is 1-2 weeks after the event.

Media release - NEWS story - 10 July 2016
Pristine street machines promise visual intoxication
It’s pretty hard to be an obsessive hot rodder and not want your dream machine to be a source of wonder and admiration by absolute strangers.
Seeing this country’s best hot rod and custom creations, under full flood lit glory, will be one of the mesmerising displays at this year’s CRC Speedshow in Auckland this weekend.
Hot rod and street machine owners from around New Zealand will leave nothing to chance to make sure each of the 50 vehicles on display are a stand out, says show director, Ross Prevette.
With some vehicles invited and others selected from a vast list of submitted applications, the public get to see both professional and hobbyist built vehicles, the vast majority of which are registered and driven regularly by their owners.
The Teng Tools Grand National Rod & Custom Show is a celebration of the mastery, talent, and skill of our own Kiwi hot rodding community. Not only have the owners spent many a frustrating hour in the workshop, but some models are the result of tens of thousands of dollars.
The display is a major highlight of the 2016 CRC Speedshow and getting a placing in the highly competitive show is a badge of honour in hot rod circles.
Who those judges are will never be revealed, says Prevette, but he promises they are definitely highly qualified experts.
“While we can’t name the judges, they’re certainly considered experts in the field and are keen to get their discriminating and detailed eyes over the entries. The results are always close which makes it exciting for everyone,” explained Prevette.
The public also get an opportunity to have their say by voting for the people’s choice award.
For people visiting the show, the custom cars always mesmerize – age, background and gender are no barrier. Under the floodlights and in a covered hall, hot rod owners relish this type of event in which to show their works of automotive art.
The show will feature everything from projects on-the-go, to completed vehicles looking lavish in all their pristine polished glory. The cars also reveal quite a bit about their owner’s personalities.
One of the more unusual creations is a hot rod made from macrocarpa wood. It’s the invention of Barry Gardner from Onepu, Whakatane. The builder has used his wood crafting skills to fashion a one of a kind 1930 Ford Model A Huckster, and now he’s also working on a caravan to tow behind it.
His hot rod buddy who lives down the road, Neil Surtees, is also putting forward his own salute to aircraft design, with his 1928 Ford Model A Roadster. With its rivets and acid-washed finish, it shows that hot rods don’t have to by shiny to be stunning.
“This show is not designed to replace or compete with existing shows,” says Prevette.
It maintains the all-inclusive nature of the previous Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show where all owners of top show quality cars are welcome - whether or not they are members of the NZ Hot Rod Association, the NZ National Street Rod Association or any car club, says Prevette.

Solberg a stranger to second…

Round 3 - Belgium
After a troublesome race weekend in Germany last weekend, triple FIA World Champion Solberg was a much happier man after his second podium from three races this season.
For the first time in 721 days or one year, 11 months and 20 days, Petter Solberg’s not leading the FIA World Rallycross Championship. That’s unbelievable. Don’t stress, he’s still second after this weekend's World RX of Belgium.
“The weekend went well for us,” he said. “In fact, the week went well for us. After Hockenheim, we stayed in Germany to figure out what was wrong with the car. The team worked so hard, but they did that and that’s what’s made this result possible.
“Of course, we always want to win, but take a look at the line-up for the final, it was probably the strongest final ever in World Rallycross. I’m satisfied with the result we have taken. At the start, I could have gone to the outside and gone around [Mattias] Ekstrom, but that’s a risk and I’m trying to avoid them!
“I took the joker straight away and that was good, but then Anton [Marklund] spun right in front of me. I dropped two seconds at least there. Did that cost me second place? Maybe, it would have been a lot closer without his spin, but then again my rear tyres were getting pretty hot by the end of the race. That’s how it is sometimes. Like I said, I’m satisfied. It’s a shame we lost the lead of the championship, but there’s a lot more action left in this season!
“What I’m happy with here in Belgium is the good clean, high-calibre driving we have seen. This is a world championship and it’s been driven like one, last time in Hockenheim, it was a little bit of carnage. I don’t like that so much.
“I did have one problem which the team couldn’t fix from Germany… I think I fractured my left thumb during that meeting. I kept having to have it strapped up and it was so painful at times this weekend. You don’t think so much to it when you are racing, but after the race it was hurting like hell!
“So, now to Lydden. We have a couple of weeks before that race and the job for PSRX is to find the kind of pace we need to stop Ekstrom. Don’t worry, I have a plan.”
The PSRX race weekend
Q1 – 3rd (position in the standings after qualifying one races)
Petter enjoys an interesting early battle with former World Rally Championship colleague and Belgian wildcard Francois Duval before the perfect joker lap and a superb race win.
Q2 – 3rd
A second top three in as many races lands Petter an overnight third place, equal on points with Timur Timerzyanov and Johan Kristoffersson.
Q3 – 3rd
Awesome start gets Petter into the lead at the first corner, before Audi driver Mattias Ekstrom comes back at him and passes him on the exit. Solberg holds an untroubled second place to the finish.
Q4 – 2nd
For once, the absence of the perfect start works a treat for Petter who finds the perfect line up the inside of the first tight right-hander and leads for the rest of the race.
Semi-final – 2nd
Petter’s perfect race: leads from start to finish. No drama. Hello final.
Final – 3rd
Petter gets backed up behind Ekstrom into the first corner and drops to third place. Solberg jokers immediately and then gets held up behind a spinning Anton Marklund.
Results:
1 Mattias Ekstrom 3m58.967s
2 Sebastien Loeb 4m01.493s
3 Petter Solberg 4m02.156s
4 Anton Marklund 4m09.835s
5 Francois Duval 4m17.939s
6 Johan Kristofferson DNF
Drivers’ championship positions:
1 Ekstrom 78pts
2 Solberg 73pts
3 Kristoffersson 58pts
4 Loeb 54pts
5 Toomas Heikkinen 46pts
5 Robin Larsson 38pts

PETTER SOLBERG WINS Rnd 1!!

April 18 2016
Portuguese perfection for Petter
Petter Solberg had a perfect start to the FIA World RX-season, when he won the final of the World Bompiso RX Portugal on Sunday.
“I’m really happy - my team have put in countless hours working on the car in the factory recently and this win is for them,” explained event winner Solberg,
“At the end of Q2, I was seventh – I’ve been in worse positions but we had a team meeting and we made some set-up changes. Today started well but we had a faulty launch control system so I had to do a manual start. For the final, we had the same problem but actually I managed okay, sometimes the old fashioned way can work! Last year we had eight different winners throughout the season and in 2016, we have three or four extra drivers who are very capable of winning events so it’s not going to be easy that’s for sure!”
Round two of World RX will take place in three weeks’ time as the World Championship returns to Hockenheim in Germany to join DTM for a double header of motorsport action.

FIA World RX 2016 Preview
Déjà vu for Solberg as title defense take two gets going
Solberg: “My toughest season ahead…”
Exciting PSRX developments coming
New shoes, new suit, new car, new season. Hello 2016

Petter Solberg is in for a big year in 2016. He has ruled FIA World Rallycross for the last two seasons, but his crown is more in demand than ever now. Next week the world of rallycross descends on Portugal for another page, another story. After a winter that’s gone on far too long, the bell’s ringing. It’s round one.
The defending FIA World Rallycross champion said: “I have been ready for this moment for a very long time. We’ve been working hard over the winter and the whole team is really pleased with what we’ve got from the car.
“We have done a lot of development in all areas of the car and pre-season testing has been very, very positive; we’ve seen a great progression with the car and the team.
“There’s been a lot of talk about the new drivers coming to the championship and this is good for [World] RX, it’s good for the sport and for the profile. I’m pleased with the way IMG is working to develop the television coverage; it’s good to see it in so many countries and without the fans having to pay for it.
“We’re at a key time with PSRX right now. As everybody knows, we’re a privately funded team, we’re not a manufacturer, but every year we are holding our own against these factory cars. We’re already looking beyond this season and there are some exciting developments coming for PSRX in 2017 and into the future.
“But for now, the focus is keeping the number one on our doors for another year. We had a fantastic start to 2015, we need the same again; getting points in the bag allows you to work on the strategy in the second half of the season. It brings a lot more pressure if you are chasing wins all the way to the last round. We don’t want to be doing that.
“We’ve got some new colours for the new season, some new shoes and a new suit. It’s time to go now.”
The rivals
“This year will be tough. It’s always tough, but this year will be tougher than any other.
“There are more drivers out for us to fight with than in the last two years and those drivers are in some really, really good cars. You’ve got the guys new to the championship, just look at the names: [Sébastien] Loeb, [Ken] Block, and [Niklas] Grönholm. And then its drivers like Timmy Hansen, Reinis Nitišs, Mattias Ekström – these guys have all shown how good they are. And don’t forget Andreas Bakkerud, Davy Jeanney and Tanner Foust.
“OK, it sounds like I talked about the whole field for this year! But that’s how strong the competition is going to be. We know all of the drivers competing are serious, they can win races and challenge for the championship. They have been getting more experience and more wise about how to win races and challenge across the season.
“And when you look at the Peugeot, Block’s Ford and the Audi, these are serious cars – factory cars with more budget behind them. We have to work like hell to keep up with these guys.”
The calendar
“There have been three main changes to this year’s calendar, with Turkey and Italy going out and Latvia coming in. I was on the podium for the last two years in Italy, but Turkey was never so good for me. Latvia’s a good choice: there’s a lot of support for rallycross and rallying in this country – and not just for Reinis Nitišs!
“The calendar is good for World RX, we have a really nice spread of events across Europe and the flyaway rounds in Canada and Argentina, both of which are special and help spread the PSRX name globally.
“If I had to choose my favorite round, and I’m not sure I could, it would be Sweden; the fans and the atmosphere in the middle of summer is incredible. But then again, there’s nothing like your home round, so Norway’s special too. For the absolute number of spectators, France is quite amazing and Lydden [Hill, World RX of Britain] is a pretty good circuit…
Pre-season data
Development tests: 3 (France, Germany, and Portugal)

The team has retained its Citroën chassis, but the engine, transmission and dampers have undergone significant work in the closed season. The Torsby-based PSRX squad has worked solidly since capturing that second FIA World Rallycross Championship title in Argentina five months ago and fruits of the collected labour will be seen in public for the first time at World RX of Portugal practice next week.
